Wayne Marquardt
1947-11-17 1967-09-02May Wayne be forever remembered. Dennis last saw Wayne in a hospital in Da Nang. Wayne always said he would come back to see him. He never made it. He was killed just a few days after his visit with Dennis. Let us hope none of our brave, living and dead are ever forgotten. May he rest in peace. Thank you Wayne for your service.

tribute by STEVE DEBLASIOI REMEMBER Wayne was an independent force of nature . We used to gather behind the LHS building on summer nights to decide what to do that eve . it was early sept and we were getting ready to head back to school. i rememember the night i drove up and got the news that Wayne was gone at age 21 . i used to scrimmage with Wayne in wrestling practice . he was so good he used to casually hum the song "forget him" in tune, without missing a note ( sung by BOBBY VEE?) as he thorougjly kicked my ass. for whatever reason he liked me and over the years my like for him became love. on sept 16 1988 ...., more than 21 years after we lost him i visited the Viet Nam memorial in dc with my older son who was 6 at that time. Wayne was there on Panel: 25 E.........Line 086... TIM SHELTON .... BOB DORNER .... ............ JOE DI LANDRO.....( I wore his number 41 jersey in football in tribute to him and as joe was i was voted the most valuable player awrd and elected co captain with my best friend Bill Pugh)........ ALF ERIKSEN........TOM POLDINO..........and ROBERT JAMIESON were all there on panels too i think of all of them very often especially on memorial day , the 4th , memorial day etc . david halberstam wrote a book about the nature of those who served in Vietnam called " the best and the brightest" PLEASE READ IT i will never accept or understand to this very moment what they were sacrificed for and i still don't know ,,, but the bitterness is long gone and my love and appreciation for Wayne and all the rest of them only grows. THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST
