Rodney Eve
1947-08-23 2005-10-21Rod and myself shared many times; good, bad and just freakin' hilarious. We had common beliefs, principles, likes and dislikes. We met in 1955 as 8yr olds growing up in Lindenhurst, N.Y. I was part of his wedding party and he was my best man. In the end, Rod was cheated.....after serving both family and country devoted and proud he was stricken with an aggressive cancer that eventually took him. He was a loving father - strict and tough but nonetheless loving of his wife Doris and his children Erik, Colleen, and Ryan. He was cheated out of seeing his children become successful in their chosen careers. He was cheated out of knowing his grandchildren Abigail, Hannah, Benjamin, Paul, Maeve, Matthew, and Kori. He was cheated out of a well desrved pension, retirement, Social Security and Medicare. He was even cheated out of the customary 21-gun salute because the Army couldn't muster seven riflemen and a trumpeter. I am very sad.
